Photography Courses Bristol Zoo
Bristol Zoo Gardens
Teaching our photography courses at Bristol Zoo Gardens means that we have captive subjects of all shapes and sizes, from insects to fish to primates. The gardens are particularly good too.
Taking zoo pictures is particularly tricky, so we’re using this location specifically for our “tricky situations” course. This is designed to help you with bad light, terrible backgrounds, glass/bars/wire in the foreground, and all the other lovely stuff that usually conspires to make Zoo pictures uninspiring. There are animals and plants that are designed to absorb or reflect light, extra bright and dull colours, and all sorts of awkward lighting!
We are based in the lovely Clifton Pavillion, and meet at the zoo entrance at 10am and finish there at about 4:45pm.
We have a lot of connections to Bristol as a location for our photography courses Bristol is one of most popular and favourite. We have judged photography competitions for Venue magazine (RIP) and the Bristol Civic Society, and many “favourite pictures of Bristol” are taken in Clifton.

- “A brief note to say that I thought today’s course was fantastic – thank you. I can’t put my camera down! Will certainly be recommending it to my friends and can’t wait to book another.”Jill, Bristol 2011
- “Just a quick message to say a very, very big thank you for a most enjoyable, interesting and informative course. It has really enlivened me to get going and be creative again. I will certainly be booking for one of your landscape photography courses next spring or summer. We have also recommended your courses to a couple of our friends, who like me have been on previous photography courses which have been a disaster. Thank you once again, and look forward to seeing you again next year.”Stewart, Creative Photography Course Bristol 2011
- “I loved the day and came home and took some much better photos of my kids…. Lots to work with. And when I’ve improved a bit hope to be back for more inspiration.”Katrina, Bristol 2011
